I think I've found who I want to be my supervisor, and I like the project and the team from what I can tell so far. But it's difficult for me to see what I'll do for my dissertation research, what aspect of the project is in-depth and innovative enough to be my topic.... and it's classified research (thanks military), so I won't really be able to rant about much of it. It also looks like some parts of the research will involve more theoretical or mathy things, and math isn't something I relish. It seems the skills I gained working in a lab at UH for the past year are not really needed, all that wet-lab cell culture and DNA isolation CSI stuff I can do isn't jumping out at me.
So I feel just a tad overwhelmed and adrift, but I'm sure I'll get over it soon. I'm just taking things one day at a time, which is from what I've heard the only way to slog through the mire of a graduate degree. The only way to proceed is to know that you know nothing, and from that to be liberated because no one knows anything about your research, so you might as well muck around, try something, and learn what you can from it.
New art is coming up. I have a few things I can scan from my sketchbook, and one really big really nice Photoshop piece I'm working on, of Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper of Dorne from George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire. The talk about the new HBO pilot casting has really got me excited about the series all over again.

If I were an animal, I'd be a meerkat. I do an excellent impression of them, apparently.
Gay rights will turn people gay like hanging out with basketball players will make you taller. >_>
